BASIC PURPOSE: The EV Operations Manager is responsible for the efficient coordination, scheduling, and supervision of EV technicians and 3rd party contractors performing maintenance and operation on EV charging stations in the Loves Family of Companies fueling network per the contracts.  Responsible for critical troubleshooting and performance testing during station start-up and commissioning. Reviews the operation of site equipment to minimize unplanned downtime and identify opportunities for improvement. Prioritizes work schedules to meet operational needs and business goals according to standards and expectations set forth in the contracts. Works with Trillium Regional Managers or 3rd parties to coordinate timely repairs.  Accountable for day-to-day uptime, performance, and activities of EV chargers and ancillary equipment including third party contractor crews and service providers. Responsible for regular communication with the customer and timely communication to all state and federally required grant funded program entities or internal account managers. Responsible for understanding the contractual obligations for each EV charging station in the network and ensuring that the obligations are adhered to and met.


 


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES:



  • Coach, lead, and counsel field personnel in resolving work and interpersonal issues while coordinating the daily activities 24/7. Work with field personnel to schedule and complete repair and maintenance activities. Responsible for employee development.

  • Ability to analyze, understand and manage DOT and other contracts as well as review and manage 3rd Party contracts with subcontractors.

  • Develop and manage a maintenance program for the EV charging business line that includes Love’s store employees, EV business owners, technology and systems, grant managers, 3rd party contractors, and the dispatch center.

  • Read, understand, and execute the maintenance program of the EV charging business line per the requirements of the grant contracts from each grant administrator.

  • Coordinate and provide uptime data and performance metrics to the EV Grant Manager(s) for NEVI and other grant reporting requirements.

  • Work closely with equipment OEM to monitor and keep “smart stock” of parts in the field to quickly address any common failures and PM activities on EV chargers and ancillary equipment.  

  • Coordinate and prioritize maintenance, operations, and some construction work assignments to maximize EV network uptime and maximize reliability. Interact with others to plan, schedule, and make efficient and effective use of EV/CNG Field team including Regional Managers, Service Supervisors, Field Mechanics, other staff, and company resources. Responsible for the coordination of work orders with subcontractors, liaison with Project Manager, and senior management. 

  • Requires regular onsite involvement with EV stations which are geographically dispersed. This will require travel overnight and work on evenings and weekends.

  • Evaluate procedures to ensure safety, training, best work practices, and standards are continually improved to maximize efficiencies. Review the operation of site equipment to minimize unplanned downtime and identify opportunities for improvement. Recommend solutions in a timely manner when field problems arise due to equipment failures or unanticipated operating conditions.

  • Ensure completion of work according to budget requirements and contracts.  Document and communicate work results ensuring customers can charge their vehicles by managing the maintenance and service of electrical and mechanical systems.


 


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:



  • Education:

    • High school Diploma or equivalent required, aAssociate or bachelor’s degree is a plus.





  • Experience:



  • Formal leadership with direct reports or informal leadership within a workgroup, preferably within the EV/CNG/Renewables industry.  Position will not have direct reports, but significant informal leadership is required for indirect internal employees and 3rd party contractors.

  • Experience with coordinating and managing work assignments and small/large scale projects.

  • Experience in reading, understanding, and adhering to government contracts

  • Electrical Contractors License or experience as an electrical contractor preferred. 

  • Availability to acquire or already possess the EVITP certification and receive ongoing training and certification.     

  • Experience interpreting construction diagrams and shop drawings.

  • Ability to work and manage, without authority, a cross functional team including business line leaders, internal and 3rd party technicians, equipment OEMs, grant managers, analysts, engineers, project managers, etc.

  • Advanced computer skills including the ability to enter data in electronic logbooks, and proficient Microsoft office products.

  • Skills:

    • Hard Skills: Working knowledge of Hazmat and OSHA regulations, EV charging stations, electrical systems, and the NEVI program

    • Soft Skills: Good written and oral communication skills, data entry, team player, exceptional customer service, attention to detail, self -motivated, good time management skill, ability to multitask and excellent analytical skills



  • Typical Physical Demands:

    • Requires prolonged sitting, some bending and stooping

    • Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds

    • Manual dexterity sufficient to operate a computer keyboard and calculator

    • Requires normal range of hearing and vision

    • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record



  • Travel



  • Up to 75% travel could be expected in this position
