CobbFendley is seeking a Hybrid Telecommunications Technician in our Albuquerque, New Mexico office.
 

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate’s most important qualifications include the following.

  • Knowledge and experience with utilities pertaining to Broadband planning, design, and permitting.
  • Experience in pole loading analysis and field survey / inspections preferred.
  • Experience with pole loading analysis software (O-Calc Pro, Katapult, PoleForeman, Spidacalc, PLS-Pole) and AutoCAD.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, and Outlook).
  • Knowledge of NESC clearance related to utility poles.
  • Knowledge and experience in utility construction methods.
  • Ability to interpret utility company records and identify utilities from field observations.
  • Experience in Survey and/or Telecommunications preferred. 
  • Valid US Driver’s License required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Distinguish types of cabling and equipment on utility poles.
  • Verify utility measurements on existing utility poles to prepare pole attachment applications for submittal to governing utilities.
  • Deciphering and inputting pole data utilizing company software programs (SpidaCalc, OCalc).
  • Assist with calculations and use client specifications to create Pole Loading Analysis reports.
  • Design an aerial path from point A to point B based on engineering best practices.
  • Review utility poles and field notes to determine most accurate make ready solution.
  • Research and document requirements on aerial construction by pole owner or customer for whom the work is being performed.
  • Document, locate and identify telephone poles, attachments, and building utility entrances/exits.
  • Record and document field data in accordance with CAD standard formats.
  • Annotate and calibrate pole photos in company software programs (Katapult).
  • Identify and measure duct banks and riser conduits.
  • Operate and maintain company equipment and vehicles.
  • Other job-related duties as assigned including field work. 
  • Work in a collaborative team environment and deliver accurate work product that is error free.

  • Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS 

  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time. 
  • Mobility within the office including movement between floors and workstations.

  • Physical mobility in and around construction sites, traffic work zones, and other field assignments.
  • Physical mobility including but not limited to hand-eye coordination, steadiness, upper/low body strength, control precision, stamina, multilimbed coordination, static strength, manual dexterity, oral comprehension and expression, and depth perception.
  • Alert and responsive while working in lane closure zones adjacent to high volume average daily traffic
  • Ability to lift, carry, pull/drag and balance equipment and supplies (up to 100 pounds) in remote, rural, or urban surroundings.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and walk long distances.
  • Walking long distances (3+ miles) and climbing on uneven surfaces.
  • Climbing in and out of a vehicle multiple times a day and driving for extended periods of time.
  • Repeated motions (e.g., reaching, bending, stooping, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, and handling).
  • Sitting and/or standing for extended periods of time.
  • Mobility within the warehouse (between floors and workstations), high-traffic areas, and walk surfaces.
  • Repeated motions (e.g., typing, reaching, bending, lifting, and carrying).
  • Communication with other employees and clients.


ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS

  • Most work is performed in a professional office environment. Some trips to client offices and job sites will be required for observations and fieldwork.
  • Job site observations factors could include: walking and climbing on uneven surfaces, exposure to outdoor environments and extreme weather (heat and freezing temperatures), noise exposure, driving for extended periods of time, exposure to allergens (e.g., pollen, dust, cedar, sumac, poison ivy), exposure to construction and traffic work zones, possible hand and power tool use, and extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use. 
  • Extended use of electronic devices (e.g., computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones).
  • Use of cutting tools and equipment (e.g., plotting equipment, rotary paper cutter).
  • Exposure to indoor and outdoor environments (approximately 80% of duties to be performed outdoors in the field and 20% are performed indoors in the office/warehouse).
  • Ability to withstand extreme weather conditions (i.e. hot and freezing temperatures).
  • Use of electric power tools, cutting tools and other equipment.
  • Driving large pick-up trucks with attached trailers (if applicable).
  • Potential watercraft use.
  • Noise exposure.
  • Exposure to allergens including but not limited to poison ivy, sumac, dust, pollen, cedar, etc.
  • Enter and work in confined spaces.
  • Exposure to construction and traffic work zones.
  • Extended periods of Personal Protective Equipment use.


EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

  • This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM MT
