Primary Purpose of the Position:
Deliver vehicle dynamics performance assessment expertise to our internal and external customers through modeling, testing and simulation.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams on lab tire force & moment testing, instrumented vehicle testing, tire/vehicle modeling and simulation.
Responsibilities:
- Leverage our latest tire/vehicle testing capabilities and modeling/simulation technologies to accelerate product development.
- Further develop the creativity and innovation capacity of the team with a focus on virtual tire development.
- Engage with vehicle OEMs to shape our virtual tire/vehicle development process for efficiency, quality and robustness.
- Interface with simulation and testing teams on tire force & moment testing, instrumented vehicle testing, tire/vehicle modeling and simulation.
- Integrate with tire design teams and provide tire characteristic recommendations for tire design tuning to meet tire/vehicle performance objectives.
- Assess/benchmark the performance of tire/vehicle systems through tire modeling, testing and simulation.
Requirements:
Education:
Minimum of Master’s degree in: Vehicle Dynamics and/or Simulation, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Physics or any related Automotive fields is required (Doctorate degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Physics or any related fields is desired).
Languages:
- English (spoken and written) is a must.
- Knowledge of other languages (e.g. French, German, Japanese, Korean, Chinese) is an asset.
Experience:
Minimum 5 years of professional experience inside automotive industry (e.g. at a vehicle OEM) or academia for vehicle dynamics and/or tire modeling.
- Experience with numerical methods.
- Experience with data acquisition / analysis software.
- Experience in instrumentation and sensor installation is an asset.
- Strong background in vehicle dynamics or related area.
- Proficient computer programming skills. (MATLAB, Python, C++, Simulink, etc.)
- Experience with assessment/benchmarking of performance of tire and vehicle systems.

Experience with driving simulator (e.g. Vi-Grade, MTS, static or dynamic) is an asset.
- Experience with chassis and/or steering system development is an asset.
- Experience with tire testing and prototype tire evaluation is an asset.

Experience with Kinematics and Compliance testing is an asset.

Experience with vehicle modeling and vehicle dynamics simulation software (e.g. CarMaker, VI-CRT, CarSim).

Experience with tire modeling and force & moment prediction software (e.g. MF-Tire, CD-Tire, F-Tire).
Skills & Qualifications:
- Strong background in vehicle dynamics or related area.
- Knowledge of data acquisition and processing software.
- Knowledge of functional system development approach (V-model).
- Proficient computer programming skills. (MATLAB, Python, C++, Simulink, etc.)
- Self-motivated individual.
- Team player with enthusiasm and initiative.
- Interest in the automotive world, testing activities, and virtual development.
- Excellent communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.
